Since 2001 Ibis has been strongly represented in Ghana with four focus areas: Organisation Capacity Building, Local Governance, Education and the Structural Causes of Poverty.
Thematic programmes
Public Participation in Local Governance (PPLG)
We work to enable poor rural and marginalized men or women to play active and responsible role in the leadership and the governance of their communities. Initiated in November 2002 this was IBIS' first thematic programme in Ghana.
Organisation Capacity Building
This programme followed shortly in March 2003. Within this area we work to provide new and innovative methods of process facilitation and competence development for local and international organizations working at both national and local levels.
Education for Empowerment Programme
This thematic programme, launched in October 2004, was designed in line with good practices and strategies that are in line with the Education for All” goals. The key target groups for the education programme are teachers and children, particularly girls between the ages of 6 and 15 living in deprived communities in Ghana.
In addition to the above thematic programmmes, Ibis Ghana through it’s partner organisations at local, district and national levels, also supports programme areas such as Good Governance, Accountability, Human Right, Peace building, Human Security and Civic Responsibility towards community and national development.
