On this day, teachers all over the world are recognised for their great work and for the enormous significance and value they have for the society. But the teachers’ conditions are very different and many places the need for better schools is immense.

On the occasion of The Teachers’ Day, the teacher association of Denmark and the Teacher-students association collect for an education-project in Africa or Latin America. This year they collected for an education-project in Ghana.

The Teachers Day is celebrated on the 5th of October, The day was established by UNESCO in 1994 with the purpose of remembering the declaration “Recommendation on the teachers’ status” formulated by UNESCO and ILO’s 42 years ago.

It is the international teachers’ union, Education International, who coordinates the teachers’ day every year. In Denmark it is the teacher association of Denmark, Teacher-students association and IBIS, whom arrange this day.
