Public Participation in Local Governance

IBIS believes that people have the right to govern their own communities. In this progmme - Public Participation in Local Governance (PPLG), IBIS is supporting partners to enable poor rural and marginalized men and women to play an active and responsible role in the leadership and the governance of their communities. The programme is working through civil society organisations to ensure effective functioning of local government structures that are responsive to the development concerns of community members in social and political deliberations.

The PPLG is committed to strengthening relationship between civil society groups and the local government for mutual development programmes that respond to the needs and aspirations of the poor and the marginalized.
